About Us
Collateral Drama aims to build bridges between the different cultural traditions, and connect different artistic approaches. By deconstructing, for example, Anglo-Saxon naturalistic plays through the use of traditionally German post-dramatic directing concepts, we can interconnect different cultural traditions; a synergetic principle that reflects the intercultural spirit of Luxembourg and that, in combination with the sensual experiences of the performances, might provoke new thought processes.
We identify as a political theatre collective in the Aristotelian definition, since we perceive every individual as a political entity. However, as Collateral Drama, we want to distance ourselves as much as possible in our creative work from all forms of political ideologies. Because our artistic research focuses on the archetypal core of human nature and not on its phenomenological form, we can examine political currents and behaviours in our artistic work and take them seriously without denouncing or propagating them.
